MedRunner utilizes the Lexi-Comp drug database to search for drugs while prescribing, and to perform contraindications against. Physicians will be made fully aware of all interactions before prescribing, cutting down on pharmacy call-backs.

This feature is of great value to healthcare practitioners who are not the patient’s family doctor. In the case of an emergency or after-hours visit to a clinic or hospital, all new prescriptions or drugs can be checked against the patient’s allergies and current prescriptions – cutting down the chances of prescribing errors.

Patient History

MedRunner provides a simplified chronological list of all prescriptions that your patient has ever been prescribed, by any healthcare provider. No more calling pharmacies, hospitals, or looking through zip-lock bags filled with prescription bottles to know what your patient is currently taking, or has taken. This feature is relevant to everyone, but is critical in the management and care of patients with many prescriptions, patients with allergies, adult care facilities and homes, and patients with special medical needs.

Special Authorization

One pressure point for many physicians and pharmacies is the documentation and management involved with special authorization forms. With MedRunner, we work with insurers so that completing special authorization forms is done electronically. This minimizes repetitiveness, eliminates back-and-forth faxing between your clinic and the pharmacy, and gives a much faster turn-around time.

Real-Time Communication

MedRunner is not just an application – we connect physicians and pharmacies in real-time. Physicians can now write a script via MedRunner and the patient can either choose to send it to a specific pharmacy, or choose to leave it in the Global Queue, and fill it at any participating pharmacy.

Real-time connection means that a patient will never have to carry a paper script again – eliminating lost or stolen scripts, misinterpretations at the pharmacy counter, and even prescription “shopping”.
