Todd Murphy
Todd is the listener, facilitator, and motivator needed to consider the needs of MedRunner’s users, motivate his team toward excellence and sensitive design, and build trust in the growth of the company. Todd’s energy, leadership, strategic vision, enthusiasim and work ethic are the reasons MedRunner has been able to get the support of national pharmacy chains, physicians, government, and respected private companies.
Todd enjoys playing hockey, golf, sports enthusiast, travelling, and supporting/mentoring new start-ups. Todd is proud to be a member of the 2010 Wallace McCain Entrepreneurial Leaders program.
Todd earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary’s University and an MBA from the University of New Brunswick.
Bob Justason
Bob is Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Mariner. Prior to joining the Mariner team, Bob held a variety of senior positions with NBTel and Aliant Telecom, including VP, Broadband Engineering, VP, Engineering and VP, Technical Solutions and Support.
Bob’s expertise spans the full range of IP and broadband networking applications and technologies. In addition to leading Aliant Telecom’s Broadband infrastructure deployment, Bob directed the development of industry-first IP applications, including IP Centrex, TV on the PC and the world’s first IP TV service to deliver multiple MPEG TV streams on DSL technology. Bob has also led the technology development and implementation of self service and service improvement software and tools for both HSI and IP TV.
Bob was instrumental in establishing NBTel as the first Canadian telephone company to provide internet service, and he led the technology strategy to deliver a widely respected contact center program which delivered over 10,000 seats of agent technology to world-leading contact center operators, including Fortune 500 clients.
With an exceptional range of technical and leadership expertise, Bob is highly regarded for his accomplishments in high performance IP network and data center engineering and operations design. Bob envisioned and directed the implementation of the NBTel / Aliant Telecom IT infrastructures to support the next generation Telecom portfolio of services and he led the corporate development of the IT skills, processes and tools to support these products in the consumer and large business markets.
As COO for Mariner, Bob continues to demonstrate innovation in advanced technology management and operations, and triple play IP applications including IP video. Bob is a director of Mariner and serves as a volunteer mentor with the Wallace McCain Institute, Propel ICT and the UNBSJ MBA program. Bob’s educational background includes a Diploma in Communications Electronics, and numerous advanced technology management, product development and leadership studies.
David Baxter
As the VP of Innovation at T4G, David’s role is to foster a culture of realizing customer value from T4G’s richest resource, our talented and creative people. David enables the right people, employs the right tools and identifies the right projects to drive successful innovation initiatives that will contribute to T4G’s growth and long-term success from new or expanded markets, new or enhanced services or through new ways of working.
David brings 20 years of telecommunications and technology experience with industry leaders like NBTel, MT&T, iMagicTV and Alcatel. David has product developed and managed world class introductions of emerging services and products in senior roles with these companies including MT&T’s (now Bell Aliant) 1998 launch of 7MBPS consumer DSL service with on-demand applications, and the world class iMagicTV and Alcatel IPTV middleware platforms and applications for telecom digital TV.
Gary Smith
I have been the Pharmacist/Owner of several Shoppers Drug Mart stores in the Saint John area over the past 33 years. I have been extremely involved in both professional and community organizations.
My involvements include the Saint John Jacees, President of Uptown Merchants Association, the Central Business Development Organization, Board Member and President of the Saint John Board of Trade. I also served as President of the New Brunswick Pharmaceutical Society, The Board of the New Brunswick Pharmacists Association, and the Canadian Pharmaceutical Association.
I have enjoyed the many valued relationships established over the years and I’m committed to providing the same energy and enthusiasm to ensuring the highest quality of customer service as in the past. I live in Saint John and I have 3 children, Allison, Jonathan and Reaghan, all in the Saint John area. I look forward to serving old friends and new.
Gerry Verner
Prior to his recent appointment at Brunswick News, Gerry Verner was Chief Executive Officer of AnyWare Group, a leading provider of customer-driven access solutions giving people the freedom to securely access and share the information that is important to them – anytime, anywhere.
With more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and information technology sectors as well as extensive experience in marketing, business development and finance, Mr. Verner was responsible for directing the strategic vision of the Saint John, New Brunswick-based company as well as establishing growth strategies for AnyWare Group’s portfolio of powerful remote access solutions including ROAM (Role Oriented Access Management) which is now implemented in 100+ hospitals throughout North America, and MyCareAnyWare, a chronic disease management solution that increases the quality and frequency of contact between the patient and healthcare providers to promote compliance and self-management.
Throughout his career, Mr. Verner has been responsible for securing close to $150 million in investment between IPOs and venture capital firms. Since joining AnyWare Group as CEO in 2002, Mr. Verner has led the company through several stages of financing to successfully secure more than $12 million from venture capital and strategic investors.
Prior to joining AnyWare Group, Mr. Verner spent more than a decade at New Brunswick Telephone Company (NBTel), where he was part of the team that developed the business plan and strategy for the rollout of broadband services throughout New Brunswick. He was also a founding member of iMagicTV, a global broadband video software company, and holds a technology patent for a television set top box.
A native of New Brunswick, Mr. Verner sits on the board of PropelICT, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry association for the Saint John region. He also serves as a board member of the Saint John Board of Trade. He has a passion for fly fishing and travelling and is an avid guitarist.
Mr. Verner holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the University of New Brunswick. He and his wife, Anne, live with their two young daughters outside of Saint John.
